World Gaming announced they've entered into an agreement to acquire Real Entertainment, who's flagship brand is SportsBetting.com.
Real Entertainment/Sportsbetting.com has been a long time licensee of World Gaming.

Betfair Stays With Crypto To At Least June 2006
Software provider CryptoLogic announced that
Betfair (the biggest peer-to-peer betting exchange in the world), one of their poker software licensees, will continue using the poker platform until June 2006, with an option to extend until January 2007.

Calgarian Heading to World Poker Tour
A rookie Calgarian is hoping to ride the river to a Las Vegas poker victory. Computer engineer Denny Amirault recently won a seat at a World Poker Tour (WPT) event Dec. 12 at the Bellagio Hotel. "I am very excited and very pumped," says Amirault, who's only been playing competitive poker for six months. The Calgary native is not the only online poker player to move from the confines of his home to the grand stage against such players as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth.

Gambling, Porn in Workplace Breed Spyware
Some security pros estimate that half of all spyware on corporate networks comes from employees going to pornographic and gambling Websites on company computers.

''I think a lot of companies are blissfully unaware of what their employees do on their networks,'' says Ken van Wyk, principal consultant for KRvW Associates, LLC and a columnist for eSecurityPlanet. ''If you take generic commercial America, a pretty good percentage of sites don't spend a lot of time and energy monitoring what their employees are doing. It's still seen as somewhat of a stigma. People are on an honor system. If you believe those statistics, apparently the honor system isn't working.''

And Some Good News
After a run of bad news since August from PartyGaming, their third quarter results produced a positive reaction from the market.
Both revenues and player numbers rose strongly in the third quarter.
Revenues were up 32% (to $220m) compared to $166.1m last year and that total active player days had risen 53 per cent to 12.2m.

PartyGaming shares were up 9 per cent in early trading at 85p, although they were still substantially down on the high of over 170p in August.

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan admits being a competition junkie but says he is not addicted to gambling.
Jordan, 42, tells CBS` '60 Minutes' he has been embarrassed by his massive gambling losses, but he never let his gambling reach the point where it endangered his family life or career, the New York Daily News and the Chicago Sun-Times reported Thursday.

Wilma Changes Dolphin Kick-Off
The NFL has announced they've moved the matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs to Friday night (from Sunday), to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Wilma, expected to hit Florida on the weekend.

The game will kick-off at 7 p.m. It's the third time since the start of the 2004 season that the Dolphins have rescheduled a home game because of a looming hurricane.

AngelCiti Entertainment Inc., the online casino software developer, posted unexpected results which showed the firm’s profits had soared in the third quarter of 2005. The company, owned by Worldwide Management, announced a 28.5 % leap in its figures and gross net win of $270,841 from a total of $6,994,216.

Asia Lays Bet On Casino Gambling
This week Singapore agreed to build two casino resorts aimed at overseas visitors, ending a 40-year-old ban. With an estimated price tag of $3bn, the two resorts will feature hotels, restaurants, theme parks and other entertainment facilities. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Singapore, a tightly run city-state of four million people, had to stay competitive in the Asian tourist market. Singapore wants to double the number of tourists it receives within 10 years - and sees casinos as the way to achieve this. Other countries in the region, including Thailand, Japan and Indonesia, are considering following suit.

Hurricanes Bring Sharp Drop in Louisiana Casino Revenue
Two hurricanes sent casino revenue in Louisiana plummeting more than $30 million in September. Riverboat casinos, which brought in just under $126.2 million dollars in August, took in $29.9 million less in September, a 23.7 percent drop attributed to Hurricane Katrina, which hit Aug. 29, and Hurricane Rita, which hit Sept. 24, closing down casinos in the New Orleans and Lake Charles markets.

2K Sports began shipping today World Poker Tour for the PS2, Xbox and Game Boy Advance. World Poker Tour is not to be confused with World Series of Poker, a competing game that, like World Poker Tour, is based on a TV series.

Empire Down 10% From Estimates
Since moving off the Party Gaming platform, so their players are no longer playing on the Party "skins", there has been a reduction in the rake generated by Empire Poker.

Empire is expecting their net profit for 2005 to be close to 10% lower than market estimates.

Leisure & Gaming PLC has announced the acquisition of Stanley Entertainment NV, the online casino business of Stanley Leisure PLC. Leisure & Gaming will gain further UK and European revenue streams and an extended customer base for its international business and it said the purchase also complements the VIP Group business, which Leisure & Gaming acquired in June 2005.

Harrah's, AOL Sign Deal for Online World Series
Harrah's Entertainment has signed an agreement with America Online to create a cyberspace home for the World Series of Poker that will include free-play poker rooms, event updates and other content in an effort to widen the tournament's audience. The relationship between Harrah's and AOL will also allow 12 poker fans, age 21 or older, to win a free seat at the $10,000 buy-in No limit Texas Hold'em world championship event at either the 2006 or 2007 World Series of Poker.

Handheld Gambling Approved in Nevada
Nevada is the first U.S. state to approve the use of wireless, handheld gambling devices at its hotel-casinos. Under the law, the devices can be used only in public areas of casinos that have 100 or more slot machines and that offer at least one other gambling game.

Arrest In Murder Of Gaming Executive
The Puerto Rican police have arrested a 22-year old male in the case of the murder of Adam Anhang. Anhang, a Canadian entreprenuer, was the CEO CasinoWebCam, a live casino platform used by several online casino companies.
He was also heavily involved in real estate development in Puerto Rico.
At the time of his murder, he was involved in divorce proceedings. The suspect has a connection to his wife, as he was an employee at a bar owned by her.
Local press are reporting they expect more arrests in the case.
