Anders Gerdin and Jan Helin, the former and current editor-in-chief of Swedish daily Aftonbladet, have drafted and sent a letter to the EU Commissioner Charlie McCreevy asking for help.

The eGaming Review reports that Gerdin and Helin are frustrated that Aftonbladet's ability to accept ads from EU-based online gambling companies is being attacked and hindered by the state gaming monopolies.

The letter also stated that Expressen, another Swedish daily, and other Nordic publications were facing similar persecution.

Gerdin and Helin tell McCreevy that, "a crucial need for strong and decisive measures from the Commission in order to change this situation."
