Pro Tennis Filling Up Betting Scandal Cracks
Updated 18 Dec 07
Rocked by allegations of match-fixing in 2007, tennis is taking measures to avoid any future incidents.

According to a report in USA Today, tennis has established an independent panel which will seek to "combat a 'serious risk' to the integrity of the game" via a study.

The panel will complete its research by March of 2008 will also offer recommendations.

"The ITF and the Grand Slam Committee prefer not to comment at this time, other than to reiterate our position that, while we do not believe that our sport has a corruption problem, we do recognize that a threat to the integrity of tennis exists," ITF Executive Director Bill Babcock said.

Members of the panel are expected to be named by Babcock in the immediate future.
