Braves Ownership Deal Could Hit A Snag
Updated 15 Feb 07
MLB, which has a black mark in its history thanks to sports betting, may have issue with Liberty Media's ownership bid for the Atlanta Braves.

Liberty also owns sports betting information website DonBest and given that baseball officials still smart from the Black Sox scandal, even after close to a century, the deal may face added scrutiny.

Members of the Chicago Whitesox—including Shoeless Joe Jackson—allegedly threw the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds to benefit sports betting, so you can see why MLB might be against the bid.
