Changing The Levels
08 Jan 10
Over at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Daniel Negreanu has inserted his influence on the poker world once again with the tournament organisers aggreeing to Daniel's request of altering the blind levels of the high rollers $25,000 tournament.

Rather than starting out with the usual 25-50 level and then slowly progressing upwards, the high rollers tournament will be starting off at the 150-300 level and staying on that level for the first four levels. This provides lots of poker play for the high rollers to battle it out, almost cash game, style for the initial levels of the tournament and not having to worry about the meaningless early levels.

This is a very interesting change to the tournament structure since, as the rest of the world knows it, tournaments always start with low blind levels before slowly creeping up and allowing plenty of play anyway, so is that necessary for the change? We know that Daniel constantly provides criticism to blind levels that rise too fast, but now we have blind levels that do not rise at all. So all eyes will be on whether this type of structure will stay or be applied to some of the other PokerStars live tournaments or even online.
