Fresh off a first-place finish at Ladbrokes' Poker Million tourney, Marty Smyth could be adding more accolades.
Smyth has been nominated for both the Best Tournament Performance and Player of the Year awards from the upcoming 2008 European Poker Awards, which will ironically be held in the New Year (January 2009) at Paris, France's Aviation Club.
On top of the first-place finish at the Poker Million event, Smyth also won the 2008 WSOP's PL Omaha world championship event as well as the World Open.
"I'm very flattered to be nominated," exclaimed Smyth.
"It's a great honour but I'm up against some very tough and worthy competition. Winning one of the awards would really be the icing on the cake of for what was a very special year for me."
