The Venetian casino has been ordered by a federal jury to pay $200,000 to a New York resident David Lockhart. Lockhart was a guest at The Venetian hotel back in October 2004 and was arriving in the carpark of the Venetian hotel and about to return to his hotel suite but was surrounded by security officers. The officers thought that Lockhart was involved in a earlier hit and run accident and did not believe it when Lockhart and his associates denied any knowledge of the event.
The hotel casino officers then asked all four men to leave, with Lockhart agreeing to do so but was then arrested by officers when he disagreed to emptying his suitcase. Lockhart spent several hours in the Clark County Detention Center and was later dismissed. The Venetian was found guilty of assault, false imprisonment, intentional inflicting of emotional distress, breach of contract and breach of in keeper’s duty.
