Vegas Numbers Up
10th February 2010

Tourist numbers in the casino capital of the United States of America have increased for more than four months in a row. The news has boosted the morale of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and all of the casino and hotel owners in the strip. Only since September has the crucial tourist number figure been rising with 2009 still three percent lower than the gambling tourist numbers of 2008.

15 months of declining tourist numbers have meant job cuts to casino staff, building delays and lower gambling tax revenue for the state government. The US national consumer confidence index has increased in the past few months and are close to half of what they were in 2007. With this increase has led to increased spending and greater willingness to take holidays and gamble.
