The United Kingdom has continued to reform it’s online gaming laws by announcing that it will now require offshore casinos to apply for a license from the UK Gambling Commission in order to operate and also promote it’s services in the UK. Last year, UK gaming operators Ladbrokes and William Hill moved their operations to Gibraltar in order to take advantage of more favourable tax conditions.
Other than just having to apply for a license, there will be a series of security reports that the online gambling operators will have to share revenue information and also report any irregular betting or player activity. The aim of it all is to protect the British online gambler. The UK’s move to regulate the industry more comes as no surprise with many other European countries making the move to regulate online gambling.
