British and Irish poker players can all raise the fists as PokerStars has announced that it will be hosting a United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), with the first event to be held December 11-14 2009 in Galway, Ireland. The other stops that have been marked on the tour include Killarney, Dublin, Manchester, Coventry, Nottingham, Brighton, possibly Scotland and London. The Pokerstars ambassadors for the tour are Vicky Coren and former soccer player Teddy Sheringham.

The tour will feature a leader board, with the top 100 players at the end of the season to qualify for a GBP £10,000 freeroll. The buyins look to range from GBP£500 up to GBP£5000 depending on the event and whether the tournament is a regional town or a major city. Some of the UKIPT events will also feature a professional poker player’s open panel session where the team PokerStars Pros will answer questions from aspiring poker players.
