Good news has been issued by the US Department of Treasury with the Federal Reserve Board announcing that compliance with all the reulings of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been extended to June 1, 2010. This actually means that internet gambling is being served a lifeline of six months and has been welcomed by all the internet poker players and internet gamblers all over the US. A six month extension means that congress has more time to actually revise and improve the act and possibly give an exception to online poker.
The online gambling world is heavily indebted to Senator Barney Frank who has been the main driver to getting the extension for the UIGEA ruling and hoping to overturn the act all together. The decision for the extension has also been helped by numerous letters and petitions to the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve from different community groups, members of congress and regulated financial institutions.
