UB.com Benches Aruba Poker Classic 11th March 2010
The annual Ultimate bet Aruba Poker Classic has been cancelled by Ultimate Bet Poker. Ultimate bet executives made the announcement stating that Ultimate Bet will focus on featuring more satelliters and sponsored players at other live events and bolstering their online guaranteed events. In a clear bid to take away more market share away from Full Tilt and PokerStars, the Ultimate Bet Online Championship is now scheduled to run twice a year rather than just once a year to go up against the popular Full Tilt Online Poker Series and PokerStars’ World Championships of Online Poker.
Ultimate Bet plans to promote it’s brand more at the World Poker Tour events and also the World Series of Poker. The Aruba Poker Classic is fondly remembered as one of the first major WPT pit stops that have featured final tables with names like Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Layne Flack, Mike Matusow and John Juanda. In the last few years, online pros have been taking the title away from the old school pros.
