POKER
It looks like the Asian Poker Tour got more than just a poker player when it named Sacramento, California's JC Tran as an ambassador.
Tran took home $300K when he won the third edition of PartyPoker's Premier League beating Tony G in final table heads up play.
"This is brilliant and I am so happy," said Tran after the win.
"I have been feeling good all week and it is amazing to win this event. Until this week I had never played in Europe before - I
really couldn’t ask for more."
Tran actually had the disadvantage when heads up play began against Tony G as Tran had a chip count of 780,000 while G had 1,150,000 but Tran triumphed in the end.
"JC Tran’s performance was truly outstanding and there is no doubt at all that he is one cool cat and that he deserved to win," said a PartyPoker spokesperson.
"The standard of play all week from all the players involved was really something to remember."
The total prize pool totalled $1.25 million with buy-in costing $75,000 and an additional $350K contributed by PartyPoker.
Besides Tony G, Tran also beat out 2008 main event champion Peter Eastgate as well.
