Staten Island Raids Smashes Illegal Gambling Ring 20th November 2009
Raids on mob related outlets have led to police smashing two illegal gambling operations on Staten Island. Twenty two people connected with the illegal gambling activity and other mob related activity were arrested, with police uncovering many leads to connected government officials.
Apart from crimes of illegal gambling, bribery charges have been laid on many of the mob members and their ties with government officials. A state court officer has also been arrested, in association with the raids. The court officer conducted himself as a middle man to bettors and bookmakers.
