A recent auction of slots machines by the Victorian government of Australia to local Australian Rules football clubs has seen a massive feud erupt amongst football clubs that have manage to secure the licences. The key to the feud was that the Victorian government literally gave away the licences at $5,500 each, so many of the clubs stocked up on the licences to maintain a healthy stock of slot machines. Clubs were prepared to bid up to $100,000 for each slots licence but instead managed to snare them at a bargain price.
Several of the football clubs are now bitter over the Carlton football club had recently taken over several of the smaller football club venues and now can have several slot machine venue, much more than the other Melbourne football clubs of the Western Bulldogs and Richmond. Carlton now sports four slot machine venues rather than just one. Each slot machine is expected to profit $470,500 each year.
