Slots Coming To Kentucky
20th November 2009

Slots look like they will soon be hitting the race tracks of Kentucky to help boost the state revenue and also boost the earning potential of the Kentucky race tracks. The bill is currently getting passed through the floor of the government and will require the support of the Republicans for it to be passed. An introduction of a slots bill is estimated to be worth $100 million to the horse racing based economy.

For the slots bill to be passed, it will need 23 votes of 38 in the senate and 60 of 100 in the house to gain approval. If approved, it will then be up for tender for interested bidders for the project. One reason for the major argument for slots is that neighbouring Ohio has already passed for more gambling, and Kentucky knows that if it does not set up it’s own slot machines, many jobs and also slots dollars will be heading to Ohio rather than remaining in the state.
