Bodog’s recent legal troubles concerning patent infringement and the subsequent migration to the newbodog.com domain might be what’s grabbing headlines these days, but it’s probably a mere speed bump in the eyes of Calvin Ayre.
The empire that Calvin built has gone beyond online gambling with Mixed Martial Arts, music, television and Fantasy Football offerings on the menu and looking to expand boundaries even further, Bodog, quite literally, is looking to venture into uncharted waters—with the company expanding to Europe.
“I’ve always had the vision of Bodog being a global digital entertainment powerhouse,” said Calvin Ayre.
“Europe is such a great market for the Bodog lifestyle and though it shares many characteristics, it is also a very unique market relative to North America.”
“That being said, Europe has always been part of the equation, but prior to taking the inevitable step of fully expanding there we wanted to really solidify our position in our initial market. Now that we’re recognized in North America as a leader in digital entertainment, we can confidently enter the European market at full speed.”
And lifestyle is exactly what Ayre hopes to offer to Europeans.
“The driving idea behind Bodog has continually been to offer an all-encompassing single destination for digital entertainment,” he said.
