Premier Denies Star City
11th of June 2010

Star City casino in Sydney has been dealt a few very raw cards by current state government premier Christine Keneally. It had previously applied to purchase an extra 1000 slot machines from the government so that it could increase revenue and upgrade the casino to a world class casino which includes a $65 million entertainment centre for major international acts. Much of Star City is compared to it’s interstate rival Crown Casino, where Crown has much stronger facilities and also many more slot machines.

Included in the casino’s plans to renovate are a brand new five star hotel, and lifting visitor numbers from 24,000 a day to 46,000 without using any government funds. The current premier has decided against issuing the extra 1000 slot machines. Star City currently has a 12 year deal with the government that expires in 2019 as the only casino allowed in New South Wales.
