What was once billed as one of the prime attractions of the Macau Studio City, Playboy Enterprises Inc has announced that it has decided to cancel it’s plan to open a Playboy Mansion Macau. It had previously planned a 40,000 square foot entertainment complex to host the world famous Playboy parties, but the relationship has turned sour now that the Studio City project is still up in the air with financing problems from the global recession.
The previous plan included dining, nightclubs, specialty retail shops, Hugh Hefner Villa, Playboy pool and grotto. Macau Studio City has yet to get off the ground and was previously due to be completed in 2009. It now faces a battle to secure the funds to restart construction, with Macau currently hit with traffic problems due to visa restrictions from China bringing less gamblers to the city.
