Casino operators and developers Pinnacle Entertainment has made an odd move by signalling that they are cancelling plans to build the $350 million riverboat casino in Lake Charles, Louisana. This decisions comes after already investing $70 million on the project and a casino licence that they had already bid for with the Louisana Gaming control board. Company officials stated that they were refining their growth strategy and wanted to ensure that they are spending their capital wisely and not with reckless abandon.
The previous plans for the Sugarcane Bay casino were completed in November with the outcome being an extension of the existing L’Auberge du Lac resort rather than building a separate casino resort. This now comes to a halt. A second casino in Baton Rouge that features 1,300 slot machines, 50 table games and at least 100 hotel rooms will still be completed as planned.
