Pelham Players Get Raided
10th February 2010

Pelham poker players have got more than kings against aces to worry about. The local police have recently been raiding many social poker games, with search warrants being issued for more. A recent raid by Pelham police featured 72 poker players and thousands in money. The poker game was held in a large building, with no official arrests being made.

Local police have outlined that a social game of poker is not illegal. What is actually illegal is when a poker game is advertised and many people attend from all neighbourhoods to participate in a large game. The state law of Alabama states that it is illegal to profit from illegal gambling activity, but is actually ok if it is in a private household and a social game.
