Pastor Charged For Online Gambling Fraud 12th January 2010
Four Australian men based on the Gold Coast have been arrested over an online gambling scheme that has defrauded over $10 million from investors and customers have been arrested. One of the four happens to be an Evangelist pastor. The four set up a sports arbitrage scheme and named it World Trade Systems, run from his home office. The scheme offered customers guaranteed winnings by betting on as many bets as possible from different sports bookmakers.
The customers were convinced that the scheme was a low risk tax free income and invested an average of $20,000 to $80,000 in the scheme. The website offered it’s customers 100 per cent money back guarantee and claimed that it was impossible to lose money. One of the victims was a Gold Coast pensioner who had lost $50,000 on the scheme. Police have yet to find the $10 million dollars the scheme was able to make for it’s owners.
