Online Gambling Program For Students
5th March 2010

Canada’s Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority has launched a problem gaming awareness program targeting young people. The primary age group of the focus is between 18-24, and mainly university students. The Responsible Gaming Council feels strongly that it is 18-24 year old students who have the highest rate of obsessive gambling behaviour compared to other age groups and is a definite problem that needs to be curbed.

The root to all this is that 18-24 year olds are experiencing a new found freedom for the very first time and are very vulnerable to trying new things. Video gaming culture of western society leads to many young people trying online gambling and it becoming an excessive problem. The campaign will provide gambling education to ensure the target group are aware of all the actual chances of winning and also the costs of losing.
