Poland has endured a lot of gambling scandals of late, which has led to a continual falling in popularity for the ruling political party. Several top ministers have resigned over scandals, and the prime minister has announced that online gambling may be banned in the future. Although this ultimately means less tax dollars for the government, the prime minister has proposed that the country will increases the taxes on land based casinos, which will still be legally allowed to operate.
Current industry speculators feel that Poland is in dire need of the extra funds to ensure that it’s 2012 European Championship hosting right is financed properly. This was problem was previously solved by introducing new online gambling facilities to the country. These ideas may now be scrapped to avoid any embarrassing corruption allegations.
