This is the time of the NFL season when reality hits for players who wager on their favorite teams.

Undefeated New England and Indianapolis supporters could not be happier and followers of Pittsburgh and Dallas are also pleased.

Then there are those connected to disappointing underachievers such as Cincinnati, Miami, St. Louis and the New York Jets. Now is the time for those bettors to look at a few prop bets.

Bodog.com has posted odds on the Patriots going 16-0 at 11-2 and 3-1 to finish 14-2. On the money line, New England is +800 to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl and -1,600 if it fails to win it all.

The Colts will pay +1,200 if they do not lose a game and repeat as Super Bowl champions and they are -2,400 if they fall short. Indianapolis is listed at +1,000 to go 16-0 during the regular season and -2,000 if it is defeated.

Then there are the Dolphins, who are at +1,300 to finish the season at 0-16 and -2,600 if they win a game.

New England and Indianapolis are not scheduled to play until Nov. 4, but Sportsbook.com has moved the line for the game, with the Patriots going from 1½-point to 3-point favorites even though the game will be played at the RCA Dome.

It has been a while since the Colts have been underdogs at home. The last time? Sept. 12, 1999, when Buffalo was favored by three points over Indianapolis. The Colts covered and won, 31-14, in the season opener for both teams.

College football

BetUS.com released updated odds for this season's Bowl Championship Series national championship game and Louisiana State and USC are very much in the mix despite suffering losses in the last two weeks.

After No. 1 Ohio State, which is listed at 7-4, LSU comes in with the same 9-2 odds as Oklahoma to win the title.

Like the Tigers -- who lost at Kentucky last weekend -- USC also has better odds than undefeated teams South Florida and Boston College (15-2) and Arizona State (16-1). The Trojans -- who lost to Stanford two weeks ago -- are listed at 6-1.

Other notable numbers: California and Oregon are each 18-1 and defending BCS champion Florida is 45-1.
