Kahnawake Gaming Commission starts probe into AbsolutePoker.com
18 October, 2007

NEWS

SOURCE: Associated Press

(Las Vegas, Nevada) — The Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada said Wednesday that it has begun a probe into widespread allegations of cheating at a Mohawk-run company that operates the online poker site, AbsolutePoker.com.

Bloggers on online poker forums such as The 2+2 Forums have pointed out irregular play from hand histories that make it appear that a player with the handle “POTRIPPER” seemed to know other players' hole cards.

Commission chair David Montour said in a statement that the commission on the Mohawk Kahnawake reservation has appointed an Australian consulting firm, Gaming Associates, to conduct an audit of the site.

“The audit will not be restricted to examining theories circulating in Internet chat rooms and fora,” Montour said in the statement.

“It is essential that all online gaming and wagering is conducted in a fair and honest manner where customers are protected,” he said. “It is important that we, as a commission, act on findings and not allegations alone.”

According to Absolute Poker's Web site, the site is owned by Tokwiro Enterprises Enrg, located in Mohawk territory nine miles south of Montreal, Quebec. It said Tokwiro was a Mohawk owned and controlled sole proprietorship.

The commission said the site held a gambling license with the commission and was obliged to adhere by its regulations.

Messages left by The Associated Press with the commission and the site were not immediately returned.
