Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams @ Edward James Dome (Artificial)
Line: Seahawks -3 (Opening: Unchanged)
Over/Under: 44˝ (Opening 45)
Key Points: This is a crucial matchup and quite possibly could go a long way in determining who wins the NFC West.
The Seahawks will be missing some quality players for this one. Reigning MVP Shaun Alexander, WR Bobby Engram, G Pork Chop Womack and DE Joe Tafoya are all out.
On a positive note, TE Jerramy Stevens should make a return to the lineup, but only in a limited role.
By all accounts, the Rams will be only missing FB Paul Smith with an eye injury.
St. Louis defensive backs Travis Fisher (thigh) and Fakhir Brown (ankle) are both questionable.
The ‘Hawks ran the table against the Rams last year, but this is a new season.
Seattle will be rested after a bye week, but supporters should note that they are batting .333 in their last 36 in October and are 8-12 ATS following a break.
Winneronline Opinion: Far be it for me to question lines makers, but injuries to Alexander et al. and a suspect record following a bye, a 3-point favorite does not make.
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints @ Louisiana Superdome (Artificial)
Line: Eagles -3 (Opening: Unchanged)
Over/Under: 46˝ (Opening: 44)
Key Points: Eagles WR Donte’ Stallworth would love to play his former team but doesn’t want to damage his injured hamstring any further and is listed as doubtful along with CB Roderick Hood who has a heel injury.
RB Brian Westbrook says that he expects to play, but the injury report lists him as questionable with a knee injury.
According to NFL.com, the New Orleans Saints only have players that are listed as probable on their injury report.
The Eagles have a 3-game ATS win streak going against the Saints and have yet to lose on the road this season, both straight up and against the number.
When losing the confidence of oddsmakers at home, the Saints have taken only 3 of 9.
The Eagles have overtaken the total 8 out of their last 9 when facing teams that are above .500 and the same situation applies for the Saints who are 22-29 against teams with better than .500 records.
Winneronline Opinion: This week we really find out if the Saints are for real or not.
