There are a number of intriguing matchups on the schedule this week, but let’s be honest, all we care about is TO’s return to Philly. Forget what the Eagles’ secondary has planned, what do the diabolical and devious Philadelphia faithful have planned for their former favorite Wide Receiver? Besides Owens’ massive ego, NFC East positioning will also be on the line. Football fans can only lick their chops in anticipation.
Sunday, October 8, 2006: Week 5
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles
Line: Eagles -2 (Opening: Eagles -2˝)
Over/Under: 44 (Opening: 43)
Key Points: Crowd noise will definitely be a factor in this game. Expect the fans in the stands to make insults about Terrell Owens’ mother, manhood, alleged attempts at suicide etc., from the minute he warms up straight through ‘til the final whistle.
Terrell Owens—who lines up on the strong side—would have, in all likelihood, been matched up against CB Lito Sheppard. But the DB is suffering from an ankle injury and is listed as questionable, leaving a potential mismatch. Expect defensive coordinator Jim Johnson to make adjustments.
Roderick Hood, who plays the other side and could’ve went up against Dallas’ other WR Terry Glenn, is suffering from a heel injury and could miss the game as well.
WR Donte’ Stallworth missed the Eagles’ Monday Night matchup against the Pack and could also miss the game of the year in Philadelphia—doubtful with a sore hamstring.
RB Brian Westbrook is questionable with a knee injury.
With the exception of G Andre Gurode, who is questionable with head lacerations—thanks Albert Haynesworth—all systems are a go for Dallas.
In their last four contests vs. Philly, Dallas has covered on three occasions.
The Cowboys are 2-10 following a victory of 28 points or more the week previous—they beat the Titans 45-14 last week.
Winneronline Opinion: TO is a good WR and will be even more motivated amidst the jeers. The Eagles faithful may be hurting their own cause by heckling him.
