Carmen Media is delighted to announce a total of nearly £400,000 was raised by this year’s Caudwell Cycle Challenge. This annual fundraiser staged by The Caudwell Charity looked to be in jeopardy until Carmen Media came to the rescue with a generous donation.
The Caudwell Charity is a charitable trust that makes direct donations to special children suffering from sickness, disability or terminal illness. Funding is used to buy specialist medical equipment, treatments and therapies across the UK.
Every year they stage The Caudwell Cycle Challenge and this year chose to ride from Athens to London, a 2,300 mile round trip.
However, just days before they were due to depart, two key members dropped out and an appeal for help was issued by John Caudwell, CEO of Caudwell Group - an appeal which Carmen Media immediately responded to, providing a Land Rover and driver courtesy of their online casino and poker room, The Gaming Club.
The Gaming Club Land Rover then accompanied the team, providing backup all the way from Athens to the finish back in London on 29th October, with nearly £400,000 raised for the Caudwell Charity.
Carmen Media CEO Tim Johnson is thrilled with the result; “The amount raised is just fantastic and to be able to say that we were an active part in raising such a sum is a great feeling.”
John Caudwell, CEO of The Caudwell Group was delighted by Johnson’s response, adding, “The Caudwell Cycle Challenge is a fundamental part of our fundraising programme and without it we’d miss out on hundreds of thousands of pounds to help children. Without Carmen Media, this entire trip would have been in jeopardy and so we’re delighted they stepped forward when the appeal went out for support”.
