[Read Part 1]
Wednesday 10:50am
My buddy DJ asked me last night what kind of games I would play at the casino if I wanted to make money off of the bonuses. No matter how many times I tell him he never remembers: I have a job to make money, the casinos I play for fun.
Not that I like to lose or anything, just that I'm not counting on it to pay the rent. Given the up-again-down-again nature of gambling that's just not a smart way to live.
But DJ wouldn't give it up. I think he's looking for a career change or something. So I told him that I try to play what I like: BJ, a little Craps, some VP once in a while, Poker when I'm in the mood for a longer haul. Unfortunately BJ or Craps usually don't count towards your bonus play-through. And Poker is definately out!
Anyway, DJ didn't like my answer. He's big into Roulette lately and I think that's what he wanted to hear. Big Roulette strategy secrets! Not going to happen. But I'm not worried. His wife keeps him on a short leash when it comes to his casino play so I know he's not going to get himself into trouble.
3:40pm
Just got off the phone --toll free!-- with Neteller. My cheque should be here tomorrow or Friday at the latest. The wonders of FedEx. Sure there are transfer fees to get the cash into Neteller in the first place but after that it's pretty smooth. And cheques are free! We like it like that!
Thursday 4:57 pm
Got an email from the boss. He's still in Vegas and is hanging out with the boys downtown. They've all just registered for this VIP program where their play time counts toward a brand new Cadillac. He'd look good driving through Vegas behind the wheel of a Cadillac. Some people just have that thing about them. 'Course he'd have to get a couple teeth knocked out so he could get gold ones to complete picture but perhaps I'm being bitter.
Seriously though, the VIP thing is not to be sniffed at. Online or off the VIP programs can offer the loyal and/or high-rolling player real advantages. In a way they're like bonus programs for the serious player. I think the good casinos appreciate player loyalty and the VIP programs are often what they offer to show it. The boss was telling me his friend recently cashed out $12K from online comp points - now that's some serious money if you can afford the bets, his average bet was around $250/hand. Yow!
A lot of players think that skipping from casino to casino is the way to cash in on the bonuses. That is seriously old news! In fact most casinos are now doing everything they can to penalize players who try this kind of hit-and-run thing. And I don't blame them. Why offer money to someone who just wants to take it and walk. Fugettabowdit!
Friday Noon
Bingo! FedEx man is here and I have cheque in hand. Man, do we ever like it like that.
Deano and I head out for lunch. There's this little Chinese place just down the street and he's aquired a taste for their deep fried spicy tofu. Me too for that matter, but a dog? Go figure!
