With the opening of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, there have already been a string of incidences to put the casino on to the headlines around the world. The first theft has already occurred with Malaysian hairstylist Tey Chin Wei, 18, stealing a real estate agent Tan Hwee Leng’s handbag. The handbag contained $600 cash, casino chips worth $600 and an Apple iphone. Tey Chin Wei was caught by security guards and has had to attend court.
On another note, taxis are now also applying a casino surcharge of $3 for any passenger heading from Marina Bay Sands. The surcharge is due to management wanting more casinos to be available and awaiting for patrons who are leaving, ensuring there are more taxis available for waiting patrons. The taxis will start imposing the charge as of Wednesday to ensure a better service for casino patrons.
