UltimateBet Accused Of Cheating
by Karl Yu, WinnerOnline
13 March, 2008

NEWS

Another online poker room which holds license with the Kahnawake Gaming Commission is under fire for allegations of "cheating" and "unfair play".

Back in October of last year Absolute Poker, which is owned by members of the Kahnawake Mohawks, was embroiled in a cheating scandal where a player with the name, POTRIPPER was said to have hacked into the system and gained the ability to see opponents' pocket cards.

Now UltimateBet has also been accused of similar transgressions.

On January 12, players complained to UltimateBet and the Kahnawake Gambling Commission about a player with the name "NioNio" who exhibited what was seen as irregular winning stats.

After the allegations were made, UltimateBet said that they were investigating.

"We immediately launched an extensive inquiry involving an independent third-party expert to review hundreds of thousands of hand histories, all of which were promptly locked down and made available to this expert," UltimateBet said in a release.

"The initial findings of our third-party expert confirm that the NioNio account's winning statistics were indeed abnormal, and we have expanded the investigation to look into whether an unfair advantage existed, how such a scheme might have been perpetrated, and whether additional accounts beyond those of NioNio were involved."

In the Absolute Poker case, the site was fined £250,000.
