(Framingham, Massachusetts) — The National League of Poker (NLOP) has announced today that Mike Sexton, the world-famous poker advocate and professional player, has signed an exclusive contract to be the featured spokesman of the company's industry leading website.
In 2007, NLOP, a division of Power Play Development (Pink Sheets: PWPY - News), awarded over $350,000 in cash and prizes to winners on its game network.
"I liked the idea right away, but as I researched them more closely, I really loved the game-play design, tournament structures, and social networking aspects of the site. This is much more than an online poker room: it is a vibrant poker community," said Sexton. NLOP offers players a no-loss poker experience but still provides the chance to win prizes and to learn how to play and enjoy the game," Sexton concluded.
"Mike Sexton is the person that NLOP always wanted as a representative, he is well respected within the poker community and was also recognized as the top poker ambassador at the Card Player Magazine Awards Gala in 2006," explained Michael Clebnik, CEO of NLOP.
"His agreement validates our position in this new and developing marketplace and we are thrilled to have him on our team."
In the newly created role of on-site spokesman, Sexton will have broad, hands-on involvement with the site, including playing online with members, consulting on tournaments, taking part in the new community area and representing NLOP in the offline poker community.
"We will be integrating Mike into the NLOP site over the next few months as we bring all the new software features of our new platform on-stream," continued Clebnik.
"The poker players on our site are now receiving a substantially enhanced game experience and having Mike Sexton just adds to a product that is already industry-leading: the combination of advergaming, social networking, access to celebrities, and free online contests," said Kevin Vonasek, NLOP CTO and Chief Architect.
"The newly redesigned NLOP.com site includes a suite of new contests and invitational events, a redesigned lobby and leader board, and the introduction of exciting game-play formats. In addition to these new features, we have committed huge resources into upgrading and enhancing our software and functionality."
The Company recently launched an upgraded version of the NLOP.com web site which is exceeding expectations. Over 1,000 players per day have downloaded the new upgraded version of the software since its release.
