Are the Davidson Wildcats 2008's Cinderella team? It sure is looking that way. After taking down Gonzaga, Davidson defeated the Midwest's second seed, Georgetown, by a final of 74-70. The Wildcats were a 4½-point underdog.
The San Diego Toreros looked like a Cinderalla team on the strength of an upset of the West's four seed, UConn. Unfortunately the clock struck 12 and 5-point underdog San Diego was knocked out by Western Kentucky by a final count of 72-63.
Seeded No. 1 in the East and in the tournament overall, North Carolina has been disposing of opponents handily and the victims in Round 2 were the Arkansas Razorbacks, who the Tar Heels knocked out of the tournament by a score of 108-77, more than adequately covering the 9½-point spread.
