Midwest Region

UNLV won a close one to Georgia Tech by a score of 67-63. The Rebels were 2-point dogs and the total was set at 143½.

Another upset took place as the Winthrop Eagles took the fight out of ND with a 74-64 win. The Irish, who were listed as 4-point faves, and the total went under the 145½ set by bookies.

Wisconsin beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by a score of 76-63, failing to cover the 13-point spread and topping the 135-point total in the process.

Miami of Ohio lost a close one to Oregon by a final count of 58-56. Oregon was an 8½-point favorite and the total was set at 121.

There was a mild upset as Purdue beat Arizona by a final tally of 72-63. Oddsmakers had the Boilermakers listed as a 3-point underdog and the total set at 141½.

Defending champion Florida is doing all it can to ensure that they are repeat champions. The Gators chomped Jackson St. 112-69. The 27½-point spread was covered and the 144-point total went over.

East Region

Texas beat New Mexico State 79-67. The Longhors were 8-point favorites and the total was set at 154.

USC beat Arkansas 77-60 covering the 2-point spread. The 137-point total pushed.

South Region

Albany was blown out by Virginia 84-57, the line had the Virginia Cavaliers favored by 9-points and the total set at 135.

Memphis beat North Texas by a count of 73-58. The Tigers failed to cover the 19-point spread and the total went under the 144½-points set by Vegas.

Tennessee was favored by 8-points and did they cover? Yes they did. The Vols destroyed Long Beach St. by a final of 121-86. The combined final score, more than some NBA games might I add, went over with an exclamation point.

With a final score of 77-71, Creighton was edged out by Nevada in overtime. The line saw the Wolf Pack covering as 2-point favorites and the total of 135½ going over.

West Region

Niagara's stay in the tournament was a short one. After beating Florida A&M, they lost big to the Kansas Jayhawks 107-67. Kansas obviously covered the 19½-point spread and topped the 149-point total.

Virginia Tech failed to cover the 3-point spread and top the 120-point total in their 54-52 victory over Illinois.

Kentucky beat Villanova 67-58. Kentucky was a 1-point underdog and the total was set at 135½.

Southern Illinois beat Holy Cross by 10. The final score of 61-51 ensured that the Salukis covered the 8-point line. The 112½ total fell just short.
