Casino revenue in Macau has shot up by 22.3% in the July to September period to a new height of 31.78 billion patacas. The revenue was consistent with the strong forecasts after a very strong August revenue and another strong month in September. The good news has been followed by bad news with Chinese officials tightening visa restrictions to Macau. Visa restrictions where relaxed during August and September, allowing the casinos to profit much higher
Visa restrictions are now back to one visit very two months, a downgrade from the one visit per month. This is a sign that Chinese officials are wary of the gambling funds that are entering Macau, and whether these are actually funds that should remain in mainland China to help stimulate the Chinese economy rather than on the tables of Macau casinos.
