The recent decision by the Macau Government to grand a Cotai Strip piece of land to Galaxy Casino has triggered a response from MGM Grand Paradise casinos that questions whether the Macau Government is providing special biased privileges to Galaxy Casinos. The size of the land is 440,248 square metres is based on the Cotai Strip, and is set for a mega resort development project by Galaxy Casinos. Managing director of MGM Grand Paradise Pansy Ho has questioned the basis of the agreement, which allows tenancy transferral and the overall structure of the agreement.
None of the other major operators in Macau had been notified of the impending agreement and raises the question whether all operators should enjoy the same privileges. The land is situated on the east of Avenida Marginal Flor de Lotus and the south of Estrada da Baia de Nossa Senhora da Esperenca. The total area is bigger than the Venetian’s Cotai Strip.
