Organisers of this year’s World Series of Poker are reviewing another year of a poker and hoping to learn and apply all that went right and wrong in 2009 to 2010. 2009 saw an overall increase in player numbers, but with the recession in full force, many of the players entered in the lower buy in events rather than saving up for the $10,000 main event. The fourth day of the main event, was also a disaster day in registrations with thousands of players turned away from the last day or registration due to over capacity.
For 2010, organisers now plan to totally avoid the holiday season to stage the main event so that registration problems will be minimised. There will also be a bigger range of buy ins to ensure that players have greater choice when it comes to playing the different events. There are plans in place to ensure the entire series accommodates more players and registration is smoother.
