Korean Without $2 Million In Chips 22nd December 2009
A Korean national hoping to reclaim $2.1 million in chips he won at a Manila casino has lost a case in the Philippine Supreme Court. The reason for the dismissal was that the Korean high roller gambled in the Philippines under an illegal junket agreement between a Philippine casino and a Korean company. The Korean corporation attracted high rollers to gamble in the Philippines at special high roller tables at the Casino Filipino Silahis at the Grand Boulevard Hotel in Manila.
Having claimed $2.1 million in gambling chips, the Korean high roller tried to sue the casino to cash his chips. He first tried to sue the casino company at the regional court and was denied, then the court of appeals which was again denied and finally in the Supreme Court.
