I'm always on the hunt for useful, free gambling information sites. Here are four cool sites I stumbled upon recently.
Top of my list recently is PokerTop10.com. If you're as interested in Poker as I am and you're still climbing the steep part of the learning curve then PokerTop10.com is a good place to pop by. The concept is simple: what are the Top 1O Online Poker Rooms? Or the Top 10 Bizarre Poker Terms? Ever hear of "throwing a party"? Me neither, apparently it is when "several loose or amateur players are making significant monetary contributions to the pot." I like that one! Anyway, you get the idea. A "Top 10" format, a little humour, interesting articles, nice ad-free layout. All around a job well done.
From solid info to "what is this guy on?" I offer "Butch The Gambler's". What can you say about a fella that offers a tribute to himself on a site named after himself? Did he write this thing himself too? Who knows, but every page you visit is entitled "A.C. Butch, A Legend In His Own Time" so I'll let you be the judge. Anyway, Butch's stories are one of the better gambling-related reads on the web, even if they do leave you wondering how much of it is actually true. But if they are true then this guy has known more crooked characters and done more stupid things --most of them illegal-- than any human being I've ever met. What a hustler! "Wives4Sale.com"! Yikes, I don't think I want to know about that! Yes, his site(s) are a bugger to navigate --I actually had to take notes in order to get back to some of those pages-- but it's often worth the effort for the shear entertainment value. Good luck, have fun, and keep your hands in your pockets.
Another site with a great personal touch to it is "Fat Tony's Roulette". For anyone interested in learning about Roulette I can't think of a better place to go. Easy to read, informative, written from the heart and low on sleaze Fat Tony had me smiling and learning at the same time. I got the feeling I'd like the guy if I met him at the bar. Definitely worth a visit, even if you're not a big Roulette fan.
Interested in learning how many ways you can get hustled? Even though the focus at Igor's CardShark Online is on the kind of cheating you'll likely to find in casino and private card play I did find more than a few novelties here that made it worthwhile. The "Professional and Amateur Cheats" page, for instance, describes more than a few of the people I've played with at the online card rooms. Interested in some art? Have a look at the "Art History of Cheating" for paintings that have featured the sharps at work. Thinking of a life of casino crime? Best check out the "Most Wanted" page first. Here you'll find mug shots and mini-bio's of 30 of the Nevada Gaming Commission and State Gaming Control Board's favourite casino cheats and fraudsters. From what I gather the state laws are especially severe for the kind of folks who make it onto this list. Well written and informative this unique site is off the path a little but worth the visit.
