2007 WSOP Championship Event (No. 55) Updates
6 July, 2007, updated July 17

POKER

Continued from Day 5-6

Final table - July 17, 2007

Unfortunately the turn and the river goes 7D and 6H giving Yang a straight, $8.25 million and the bracelet for the 2007 WSOP's championship NL Hold'em event. Tuan Lam doesn't walk away empty handed either as he finishes in second and takes home over $4.8 million. A round of applause for both.

The flop gives Lam a big boost as QC-9C-5S are revealed.

Yang shows two 8s and Lam flips A-Q of Diamonds.

- On the winning hand, Yang drops $1.5 million and Lam counters by going All-in and without batting an eyelash Yang calls.

- The blinds are stepped up a notch $400,000/$800,000, nice and ripe for Jerry Yang and Tuan Lam.

Clearly it's not what Rahme wanted to see as he flips pocket Ks and with no help from the turn and river, Rahme finishes the tournament in third place. Lam and Yang will battle it out for the crown, a border battle between the U.S. (Yang) and Canada (Lam).

After what seems like an eternity, Yang calls and shows AC-5S.

Rahme sees and goes All-in.

Rahme checks and Yang lays down $10 million.

Yang calls and the flop reveals A-J-8 all Hearts.

After Yang dropped $2.5 million pre-flop, Rahme bets $6.5 million out of the big blind.

The field was whittled down to two players after Yang sent Raymond Rahme to sleep with the proverbial fishes.

It seems as if in this year's WSOP, Jerry Yang has whacked more people than Clemenza from "The Godfather".

With the flop QD-9H-8S, Yang gets a set of 8s and Kravchenko doesn't get any help as the board plays out. Kravchenko finishes in fourth place leaving Yang, Tuan Lam, and Raymond Rahme.

Kravchenko reveals AS-KD while Yang shows a pair of 8s (Hearts and Clubs) and the heat is on Alex.

- An hour after midnight, Alex Kravchenko exited the 2007 WSOP and it was courtesy of Jerry Yang, the man who has battled Alex hard on a number of occasions.

The rest of the board offers Yang little help and Kravchenko takes the hand.

The flop reveals 8C-3H-2S giving Kravchenko three 3s.

Yang shows KS-QH, while Kravchenko shows pocket 3s.

After an inquiry about the chip count ($7.5 million to be exact) Yang calls.

After Yang raised to the tune of $1.5 million and Kravchenko went All-in.

- A few hands later Kravchenko exacted a little revenge on Yang.

This time Kravchenko contemplates a bit before conceding the hand to Yang.

What goes around comes around though. After Kravchenko plunked down $800,000 and Jerry Yang not only saw that but raised, dropping a total of $3 million, scaring off Tuan Lam and Raymond Rahme.

Tuan Lam bets a cool $1 mill and Alex Kravchenko counters by going All-in. Lam thinks about it and then folds.

- Intimidation was the name of the game the next few hands.

The board goes 10C-9H-6H-3C-3H. Rahme's Jacks still reign supreme and Kalmar heads off into the sunset finishing in fifth spot. The final four remain—Jerry Yang, Tuan Lam, Alex Kravchenko and Raymond Rahme.

Rahme reveals pocket Js, while Kalmar flips over AS-KH.

Raymond Rahme bet $2.7 million off the bat and Kalmar went All-in.

- Jon Kalmar was the next of the final nine to get the axe.

3C and 3S come up on the turn and river and Hevad Khan is out of the 2007 WSOP. Five left standing, Jerry Yang, Tuan Lam, Alex Kravchenko, Raymond Rahme and Jon Kalmar.

Khan goes All-in and the flop reveals KC-4C-2D. Yang shows two Jacks, Khan shows AQ of spades.

Yang dropped $1.5 million pre-flop and Khan re-raised throwing in $6 million, Yang calls.

Later on, Jerry Yang rained on Hevad Khan's parade.

Yang had an Ace high and Kalmar had a pair of eights giving Kalmar the pot.

The turn revealed a 10H and the river was 3C and both players checked on both cards.

The flop is Q-7-3 all of diamonds.

- Jerry Yang bets $1.2 million and Jon Kalmar calls.

- Alex Kravchenko took the blinds after plunking down $3.6 million.

- The level increases to 29, blinds are up to $100,000/$200,000.

- About half-an-hour later Yang also knocked out Lee Childs out of the final table. And then their were six.

The board turns up 6D-4H-2C-KD-JS giving Watkinson an early exit.

Yang calls and flips AS-9D, Watkinson flips AC-7H.

Yang raised $760,000, Watkinson saw Yang's bet and went All-in.

- Jerry Yang has been the most active player all day, first delivering the KO to Philip Hilm and now he's ended Lee Watkinson's run too.

- Although he was the chip leader as the day started, Philip Hilm is out and finishes in ninth spot.

An AS comes up on the turn Kalmar checks and Khan bets $1 million, everyone folds, Khan gets the pot.

JD-7D-2D comes up at the flop and everyone checks.

- Hevad Khan again lets it "rain". After laying down $600k pre-flop, Jerry Yang and Jon Kalmar get in on the action.

Childs folds despite having a pair of ladies in his pocket and Yang adds to his stack.

7C-4D-2D comes up on the flop and Yang goes All-in.

- Jerry Yang drops $1.9 million pre-flop and it's too rich for everybody's blood except for Lee Childs, who calls.

Watkinson lays down $1.5 million and Childs folds.

The dealer revealed 10H-8C-2H on the flop and Childs checks.

- Similar to the hand that Hilm just won, Lee Watkinson raises to $750k scaring off everyone but the blind, this time small (Lee Childs).

Hilm plops down $1.1 million and Yang folds, giving Hilm the pot.

The flop comes up QH-7D-2C and Yang checks.

- Philip Hilm dropped $720,000 scaring off everyone but the big blind, Jerry Yang, who calls.

- The Level is at 28, the blinds are $80,000/$160,000.

- Entering the day, the final table will consist of (in order of highest stack) Philip Hilm, Tuan Lam, Jon Kalmar, Raymond Rahme, Lee Childs, Lee Watkinson, Hevad Khan, Jerry Yang and Alex Kravchenko.
