While gambling companies are vying for the right to advertise through the UK Gambling Commission's White-list, 888.com will do so on taxicabs.

The online gambling company in association with Taxi Promotions UK has launched a fleet of 375 taxicabs which are decked out with advertisements featuring the 888 brand name and company website.

But some of the mobile billboards will do a little more to "preach the gospel" of 888.

10 of the cabs will apparently have drivers who will converse with customers about online gambling and eventually make a pitch for 888.com if the customer shows interest, even offering coupons for free hands of poker at 888's poker site.

Taxi Promotions calls this type of promotion WOMAD or Word of Mouth Advertising.
