Every year the Pittsburgh Steelers were listed as Super Bowl favorites before 2006, they always found a way to fall short. Last year they missed out on any sort of homefield advantage, a first round bye and the favor of Vegas and ended up winning it all. Will that be the case for the Indianapolis Colts this year?
The Colts managed to win the AFC South division, but missed out on an extra week of rest. Always listed as a favorite in past years, the Colts looked a little vulnerable going into the playoffs. Prior to last week’s tilt against the Ravens, bet365 had the Colts listed at +850 to win it all, probably because of their weak run defense, but the Colts limited Baltimore to six points and 83 net yards rushing.
Will Peyton Manning finally shake the underachiever label and win the Super Bowl? Many people are starting to believe, at least from a betting perspective. Sportsbook.com currently has the Colts as the odds-on favorite to win it all, with a +160 listing.
New England QB Tom Brady definitely missed having WR Deion Branch to pass to this season and it affected the Pats’ Super Bowl chances going into their divisional matchup in San Diego. Brady’s bunch was listed at +750 by bet365, but Bill Belichick and his QB are magicians at this time of year and could very well weaving another Super Bowl spell. Despite being outplayed for most of their game against the Chargers, New England eked out a 24-21 win over the NFL’s best team.
This week, Vegas made some odds adjustments and the Pats are currently listed at +240 for the Lombardi trophy.
Even though the Super Bowl matchup isn’t set yet, bettors can get a jump on Super Bowl betting as sportsbook.com is offering a prop bet for the coin toss. Whether the coin comes up heads or tails the odds are listed at -105 a piece.
They are also offering prop bets for Super Bowl matchups and they go as follows: Bears and Colts (+160), Bears and Patriots (+280), Saints and Colts (+240) and Saints and Patriots (+400).
Expect a lot more betting options at the start of next week.
