A brand new entertainment centre including a five star hotel, all weather and race track, theatre and casino is currently under planning application with the Irish government. Set to be built in the area of North Tipperary, the project is the brainchild of entrepreneur Richard Quirke. The entertainment area of the facility is expected to seat up to 15,000 people and will be aiming to be the premier racing facility in the area. The opening of a new race track is in line with Horse Racing Ireland.
The major hurdle to the operation is securing the capital needed to actually fund the project. Given the economic times, banks are continually more conservative and critical of funding ambitious projects. Another possible impediment is the Irish Government’s stance on further gambling in the country. Already under current review, it is still sceptical whether the Irish Government will approve another casino in the country.
