The Illinois Racing Board will be meeting to discuss the matter of issuing legal licences to online gambling. Referring more to sports betting than table games, this is still a step in the positive direction for online gambling. Gambling expansion across the US has seen many governments introduce new laws that allow for gambling. Bars can now offer video gambling and governments are looking for further means of greater tax revenue and legalised betting for it's citizens.

The Illinois horse racing industry has recently seen a drop in wagers. Many believe that gamblers are placing their bets in unregulated online betting providers and hope to solve this problem by introducing legalised online betting. Legalised online betting provides a safe and secure means for gamblers to place bets. By ensuring that it is regulated, the government provides both a necessary service for it's citizens and also earns extra tax revenue to help with it's own budget.
