Fresh from preparing to open it’s new Sentosa resort, Resorts World Sentosa, the Genting group is announcing that it will be focusing on another project, the building of a casino, mall and interactive theme park in Iskandar Malaysia. Iskandar is situated in the Johor region of Malaysia and is the on the boarder of Malaysia and Singapore. The Genting group sees the Iskandar project as complementing the Sentosa Resort and aims to attract Singaporean money to it’s major theme park.
The project has already raised roughly $80 million in US funds and will be located in the Kulai mall. The project will be built on 4,050 hectares of land and is expected to be completed in two years time. This project will complete a three way trifecta of casino resorts in the south of Malaysia, with Genting Highlands, Johor and Sentosa all attracting millions of tourists. The Resort World Sentosa will be opening it’s Universal Studios theme park next week, with the casino due to be open around Chinese New Year.
