A Las Vegas local man has decided to sue the company that makes the drug Mirapex, Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer, Pharmacia Corp and Pharmacia & Upjohn Co claiming that the drug has caused him to have gambling addiction and sex addiction. The drug was originally used to treat Restless Legs Syndrome and was taken by Brian Ridenour as prescribed by his Physician. What the drug manufacturers failed to do was warn patients of potential compulsive behaviour symptoms like gambling addiction.
In 2005, the manufacturers of Mirapex changed the label of the packaging to include side effects of compulsive behaviours as part of the possible side effects of the drug. However, the drug’s warning label failed to disclose this type of information. Apart from gambling addiction Riednour is seeking damages for injuries, physical pain and suffering, mental and emotional anguish, court costs and attorney’s fees as a result of taking the drug.
