The gambling industry in Japan are set to cash in on the Japanese’s government’s national child subsidy scheme. Although the scheme’s purpose is to provide incentives for couples to bear children and to help support parent’s, the Pachinko arcades are set to have extra customers as the scheme provides young parents and couples with more resources.
Payments will rise to Y23,000 a month signalling that the government really wants the country to start bearing the next generation. Apart from the gambling parlours, other sectors that will benefit from the scheme include theme parks, Nintendo, video game operators and other items on a typical child’s wish list. Since the money is not industry specific in the forms of a subsidy or voucher, it means the money can be spent anywhere and will find it’s way to pachinko operators.
