Florida Releases Online Poker Report 25th November 2009
Florida has released a very concerning government report on how it views online poker. The report compiled by the Florida’s Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA) presents arguments both for and against online poker to be legalised. The main message of the report is that there are three likely options for online poker. One is that the state waits for federal congress to legalise it, second is to ban online poker, and third is to legalise it and try to reglate it.
The report then provides arguments for all three options of internet poker. Several major lines include the report suggesting that banning online poker will help minimise the social issues that coming with excessive gambling. The report also states that actually banning online poker will be a very difficult thing to do since anybody with an internet connection can log on to some overseas poker site.
