Super Bowl Props
by Winner's Edge
3 February, 2005

There are literally hundreds of proposition wagers available for the Super Bowl. Many, like laying odds on which team will win the coin flip, are to be avoided. However, others can provide decent value. Below you'll find props from handicappers ben Burns and Ron Steel, brought to us courtesy Winner's Edge Sports Betting Newspaper.

Remember not to get too carried away with your wagers just because it's the Super Bowl. Good Luck!

Ben's Props

1) McNabb OVER 3.5 Rushing Attempts (-175)

Roethlisberger rushed five times vs. the Patriots and was successful doing so. Expect Andy Reid and the Eagles to have noticed this. They'll have a few run plays designed for the McNabb, who rushed 10 times vs. Atlanta. The price is a bit steep but this one should cash.

2) McNabb OVER 28.5 rushing yards. (-110)

Roethlisberger rushed for 45 yards vs. the Patriots. If Big Ben can do that, playing in the biggest game of his life, McNabb should be able to get at least 30!

Here is a look at Ron Steel's top seven Super Bowl propositions.

1) Will Brian Westbrook score a touchdown in the game

Yes +130
No -160

Westbrook is one of the most versatile players in the entire NFL and an integral part of the Eagles offense. In what should be a high-scoring affair, expect Westbrook to see plenty of action and to definitely get a TD in Super Bowl XXXIX. Of all the following propositions, I feel this particular play is the strongest !

2) Player to be named MVP of the Super Bowl

Tom Brady +125
Donovan McNabb +350

Worth a serious look. McNabb and the Eagles are barely even being given a chance after the game line moved to +7. McNabb is a great competitor and the Eagles have a chance to win this game outright. At +350 McNabb could pay big dividends.

3) Total rushing yards made by Corey Dillon

Over 97 1/2 rushing yards -110
Under 97 1/2 rushing yards -120

The Eagles defense will try to accomplish only two things on Sunday, pressure Brady, and get into the back-field to stop Dillon before he gets into the secondary. Jevon Kearse and the rest of the Eagles defense will limit Dillon to well under 97 1/2 yards, and this prop looks to be a solid play.

4) Total gross passing yards made by Donovan McNabb

Over 253 1/2 passing yards -110
Under 253 1/2 passing yards -120

You aren't going to win a Super Bowl without throwing the football. McNabb will be airing the ball out the entire game and is virtually guaranteed a big day. With the possible return of Terrell Owens, playing the McNabb Over 253 1/2 passing yards is a safe wager.

5) The longest field goal made in the game will be

Over 44 1/2 yards -110
Under 44 1/2 yards -120

Adam Vinatieri and David Ackers are both capable of hitting long FG's. With such talented defenses on the field, expect both teams to try to put points on the board any way they can. A field goal at over 44 1/2 yards is a gift !

6) Will New England score points in every quarter?

Yes +180
No -220

I haven't kept it a secret that I think this game is going to go over the posted total, and one thing the Patriots know how to do is perform efficiently in the biggest games. While they may not score a TD in every quarter, the Patriots will put points on the board in every quarter. At +180 this proposition has great value.

7) How many yards will T. Owens first reception be for?

0 to 6 yards +250
7 to 12 yards +110
13 to 18 yards +150
19 to 24 yards +350
25 yards or more +300

Owens is known for his flashy play and has to be considered one of the top receivers in the NFL. Look for Owens and the Eagles to make a statement early, when McNabb goes to Owens for the first time, look for it to be a big play.

Enjoy The Game!
